Description

Futures Group is seeking a Senior Knowledge Management Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded project, “Supporting Operational AIDS Research”. The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist provides overall guidance and leadership in the areas of communication and knowledge management including the dissemination of project research findings and best practices to USAID, project partners, public health professionals and the scientific community.   S/he will collaborate with project staff, research networks and knowledge dissemination hubs worldwide to package research findings, share relevant technical information and create communications and dissemination materials/products in relevant technical health areas. Further, the Senior Knowledge Management Specialist will participate in analyzing and synthesizing research findings and program experiences and will assist in the documentation of successful practices. S/he will facilitate, through multiple venues, mechanisms, and technology, effective processes, systems and tools to share knowledge.  The Senior Knowledge Management Specialist will also provide technical writing assistance to project staff and partners worldwide and will maintain close liaison with the project’s management team, the senior knowledge translation advisor other project staff, partners and USAID. 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive knowledge management and communication strategy.
  • Identify and oversee the implementation of innovative approaches to disseminate information and learning to project partners and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and execute strategies for closing knowledge gaps within existing systems and propose streamlined approaches to advance knowledge in HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs.
  • Provide leadership for integrating into existing knowledge management approaches, processes, and systems for HIV research in specific countries, regions and globally.
  • Assist project staff and country programs with developing targeted communication products and materials.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for strategic information dissemination and technical assistance for writing and editing publications.
  • Ensure communications are consistent in messaging across the program and aligned with overall goals and strategies.
  • Liaise with other relevant institutions and networks in the global health community on knowledge sharing for HIV prevention, care, and treatment programs and leveraging resources, lessons learnt, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in communications or social sciences; emphasis information-related aspects of international development or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 10 years relevant professional experience in international development, including experience closely related to knowledge management, organizational learning and other related fields.
  • Experience working with both researchers and policy makers/program managers in the health sector.
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills working with multi-level stakeholders, including technical and subject matter experts, government agencies, local partners, researchers and others.
  • Experience with web platforms (e.g. Drupal and SharePoint), electronic communications, social media, and knowledge management principles.
  • Proven ability to organize and share information effectively.
  • Writing/Publication expertise.
  • Experience designing and implementing strategic communication plans for country-level programs and global projects.
  • Experience developing global program dissemination plans, tools, and products.
  • Successful planning and management of international events, including meetings and conference.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and graphic design software (i.e Photoshop).
  • Ability to travel at least 20%.
