Global Communities, formerly CHF International, is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.

Global Communities is seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated five year USDA-funded program in Malawi. The program will focus on improving agricultural production and expanded trade of agricultural products in key value chains, including groundnuts, legumes, fruits and vegetables, and sweet potatoes. The program aims to encourage value chain innovations that increase productivity and help farmers in Malawi’s south central region earn higher incomes. This position will be based in Lilongwe, with required travel to targeted municipalities. Global Communities is looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide leadership and strategic vision to program
    activities promoting agricultural production and expanded trade of agricultural products.
  • Oversee management and deliverables of local
    project staff and international consultants.
  • Oversee program finances, planning, administrative compliance
    and reporting, and monitoring and evaluation of program activities.
  • Develop sustainable public-private partnerships and private sector investment in priority sectors.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with program
    donor, including representation of the program, local and national government institutions, NGOs, and other international and private sector partners.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree
    preferred in Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agronomy, International Development, Business Administration or a related discipline 
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience
    and demonstrated success working in agricultural projects and/or on similar donor-funded programs.
  • Proven ability to manage a large-scale agriculture
    development project, particularly USG-funded cooperative agreements or grants, involving multiple value chains across diverse geographic areas. Specific experience working in groundnuts, legumes, fruits and vegetables, and
    sweet potatoes preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability working with both national, community-level, and private sector actors on value-chain development.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication
    skills.
  • Fluency in English required.
