Overview:
Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton
Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to
strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access
to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. Based on the
premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global
health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and
optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization
of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in
association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large
scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for
treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI's teams are
working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest
barriers to effective treatment and care.
The Quality Assurance Coordinator MMC will be based in
Pretoria and report to the Program Manager MMC at the National Department of
Health. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will coordinate MMC activities with
various stakeholders to ensure consistency with internationally recognized
quality standards and ensure consistent application of evidence-based
practices. The role will also include the facilitating and coordinating quality
VMMC trainings initiatives, updating clinical guidelines, supporting the
research agenda by working with the relevant stakeholders in the VMMC program
(WHO, PEPFAR).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate
with key stakeholders to roll out Voluntary Medical Male circumcision
guidelines and protocols
- Work
with the NDOH and relevant stakeholders to coordinate a comprehensive
quality assurance/continuous quality improvement system that ensures that
VMMC services provided meet internationally recognized standards of
quality
- Provide
technical oversight for the implementation of the national VMMC program by
working with the technical working group
- Review
the quality of VMMC program trainings provided in collaboration with
relevant stakeholders
- Support
the process of developing standardized national VMMC training
guidelines/manuals
- Support
the MMC program in monitoring and reporting of adverse events
- Support
the national planning for male circumcision plans among priority
populations identified by NDoH
- Assist
with development of the research agenda for the MMC program
Qualifications:
Essential:
- MBCHB
or nursing degree, registered with HPCSA
- At
least 5 years' experience in HIV/AIDS or Reproductive Health quality
improvement
- Experience
as a trainer with a strong track record of implementing training
strategies and programs
- Demonstrated
VMMC knowledge and experience
- Experience
supervising and mentoring staff
- Demonstrated
ability to implement quality assurance/continuous quality improvement and
supervision approaches
- Willingness
to travel extensively within South Africa
- Computer
literacy; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Desirable:
- Advanced
degree in public health or related discipline
- Experience
providing neonatal and adult Medical Circumcision
- Experience
managing programs
- Experience
living and working in South Africa
- Previous
experience in working with public, private and NGO sector
