DESCRIPTION

*CARE encourages Bangadeshi nationals and international candidates, especially women, to apply.
CARE seeks qualified professionals to support a large-scale Feed the Future Livestock Project in the southwest of Bangladesh. The project aims to address under-nutrition among rural populations in the Barisal, Khulna, and Rajshahi districts (the Feed the Future “Zone of Influence”). Implementing partners will help vulnerable groups improve household nutrition by translating gains in livestock productivity into better household access to quality food and improved nutrition practices. Salient project activities will include working with local groups to improve livestock fodder, fortify and preserve milk and meat, and encourage better household nutrition behavior (consuming the right types of food, giving family members equal access to nutritious foods). Ultimately, the effort will help rural Bangladeshi communities to shift the bulk of dietary composition away from rice, to include milk, meat, and other protein-rich foods. USAID will focus predominantly on increasing women’s and children’s food security, by diversifying their diets, supporting female farmers, and improving service delivery to female consumers within the Zone of Influence.

The Pasture Production Team Leader will be responsible for the technical oversight of the nutrition and behavior change components, strengthened through adequate design, implementation, M&E and capacity building. Technical support provided will be aligned with the programs’ strategic objectives and, where appropriate, fully linked with relief, rehabilitation, and development actions.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Implementing activities to promote forage production and management;
  • Introducing improved storage techniques
  • Facilitating access to improved inputs.
  • Developing and providing appropriate capacity building to meet context specific needs.

  • A record of achieving project objectives in a context of similar scope and challenges;
  • Demonstrated potential to implement, manage, supervise and provide technical oversight of complex scopes of work, including production of technical documents and delivery of effective capacity-strengthening interventions that meet stringent standards of quality;
  • Familiarity with USAID development policies corresponding to animal or agricultural sciences;
  • Demonstrated excellence in achieving results in similar types of activities;
