Description
Futures Group is seeking a Research Associate to be based
in our Washington, DC office. The successful candidate will provide
technical support for a range of activities that support the family planning
and reproductive health portion of an international health project. This
position will work under the general direction of a senior program staff
member.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate
in the planning and implementation of FP/RH policy-related project
activities, which may include analyzing data, using demographic models,
conducting research, doing literature reviews, and providing training.
- Provide
technical assistance to program staff across a global portfolio,
especially on matters related to FP/RH policies.
- Assist
in preparing presentations, manuscripts, reports, and briefs.
- Collaborate
with colleagues, partners, clients and other stakeholders in the
professional community and in countries around the world.
- Contribute
to capacity development activities on various technical products, models,
and tools to strengthen the skills of partners based in developing
countries.
- Represent
the project/program in specific technical areas, with senior supervision.
- Conduct
any data collection involving humans according to accepted standards of
research ethics.
- Participate
in business development efforts, as required and appropriate.
- Help
organize, as needed, project/program trainings, conferences, workshops,
and meetings.
- Perform
other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
The following may be acquired through a combination of
formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
- Bachelor’s
or master’s degree in economics, international relations, public health,
public policy, or related field of study required, with an expressed
desire to work on health programs in developing countries.
- 0-3
years of professional experience demonstrating required knowledge, skills,
and abilities.
- Strong
quantitative and qualitative research and policy analysis skills,
including statistics.
- Familiarity
with data analysis using Stata.
- Clear
and effective writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability
to translate and present complex information to diverse audiences both in
writing and verbally.
- Ability
to develop technical data into presentations and/or other multimedia
formats.
- Professional,
collegial and mature demeanor and conduct.
- Ability
to respond and adapt quickly to changing requirements and competing
demands.
- Fluency
in English required and one other language (French) preferred.
- Familiarity
with family planning/reproductive health, demography, or global health a
plus.
- Familiarity
with USAID-funded programs a plus.
- Ability
and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
