Fundraising Manager
Full-time/Regular position

JOB SUMMARY:
The Fundraising Manager is responsible for growing and sustaining ORBIS Canada’s revenue that enables ORBIS’s sight saving programs across the globe. He/she will closely with the Director of Development to develop and implement fundraising strategies focused on major individual and corporate donors, direct marketing campaigns and annual special events. She/he will also write compelling proposals and program reports, and collaborate with ORBIS colleagues throughout the world to mobilize and align communications, media and advocacy activities aimed at engaging ORBIS supporters.

REPORTS TO: Director of Development

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Gifts (30%)
  • Work with the Board of Directors and Director of Development to identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects and donors. Leverage existing donor relationships to secure major gifts from individuals.
  • Provide high quality donor services which include producing gift acknowledgments, arranging field trips, preparing donor reports, responding to donor requests/inquiries in a timely manner, etc.
  • Special Events (40%)
  • Work with the ORBIS Canada team and external stake holders on the development and fulfillment of the annual Plane pull for Sight, Sights on Asia telethon and other third party events. 
  • Cultivate and expand corporate sponsorship development and fulfillment.
  • In consultation with the Director of Development, develop and implement 1 to 2 new signature events within the next fiscal year.
  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the event budgets
  • Lead the event publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.
Direct Response (20%)
  • Deliver on the income targets for individual donors.
  • Undertake Direct Marketing campaigns, including mail and online appeals.
  • Work with colleagues in the ORBIS International’s New York office to develop a strategic approach to the supporter experience through donor communications.
  • Provide pre and post campaign reporting analysis
  • Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information
Monthly Donor program (5%)
  • Manage the ORBIS Canada Monthly Donor program, which involves engaging current monthly donors and actively cultivating new ones.
  • Act as point of contact for all monthly donors.
General (5%)
  • Act as an ambassador for ORBIS Canada, ORBIS International and for philanthropy
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional tasks as assigned
  • At all times, project a professional image during in-person and phone interaction with donors, board members, volunteers and the general public
DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The ideal candidate has an outgoing and engaging personality and a self-starter approach, is a consummate relationship manager, and displays a keen interest in international development work. She/he is works well independently and in team, is able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. He/she has a passport valid for international travel.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
4 to 6 year’s experiences working in an office environment, preferably in marketing, PR or fundraising area.
Outstanding interpersonal and diplomacy skills and proven success in relationship management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proposal writing and report writing
Previous experiencing managing and monitoring budgets
Ability to collaborate successfully with stakeholders from divers cultural and professional backgrounds
Strong computer internet skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Database management experience – understanding of Raiser’s Edge database desired
Fluency in Cantonese or French is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal working conditions for an office environment, deskwork with a computer. Manage one temp staff and a strong volunteer group. Work hours for f/t position are 9am to 5pm, with occasional domestic and possible international travel, and weekend hours for special events. This is salary paid position with insurance benefits.
