Description

Futures Group is seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated USAID-funded health system strengthening project in Tanzania. The project is expected to focus on providing technical assistance to notional level ministries and other stakeholders in order to strengthen the health care system, focusing on the public sector, at the national and local government authority (LGA) level. Specifically, efforts will focus on improving governance, finance, human resources for health, and information components of the health system. The DCOP will be based in Dar es Salaam and will report to the Chief of Party.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level content knowledge in health systems strengthening, technical assistance, and support for the development, execution, and monitoring of project strategies and activities.
  • Oversee technical staff and coordinate activities across the project’s technical components.
  • Provide key representation and serve as a point of collaboration with donors and key Government of Tanzania entities.
  • Contribute to development of work plans, budgets, reports, presentations, and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of senior-level experience leading components of similar, donor-funded programs, focused on health system strengthening and capacity building.
  • Advanced degree in health policy, public health, international development, or a related field
  • Experience working in Tanzania at national and LGA levels.
  • Experience in effective coordination and collaboration with stakeholders including government agencies, civil society, and international donor agencies.
  • Ability to design and develop work plans and guide work plan implementation.
  • Experience with project reporting processes, including quarterly and annual report development and ad-hoc requests or data calls.
  • Experience managing staff and overseeing staff professional development and performance evaluations.
  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with USAID-funded projects preferred.
