Governance & Tax Justice Advisor for ActionAid Bangladesh

ActionAid Bangladesh is looking for an academic professional with strong skills in governance and experience with tax research and campaigning to support ActionAid staff and partner organisations.

Tax Justice is a fairly new program within ActionAid Bangladesh and thus both the ActionAid staff and the partner organisations involved in the tax justice work need to build their capacity in developing effective tax justice campaigning and advocacy skills. Tax Justice is one of the 3 global campaigns that will be held across the ActionAid Federation for the next 5 years. Thus, this position will not only build national capacity, but will also feed into the global tax justice work of ActionAid International.
 e Governance & Tax Justice Advisor is placed through the People4Change programme; which is a people-to-people support programme providing capacity development support to ActionAid and her partner organisations.

 Job tasks include:
  • Support the tax justice campaign in AA Bangladesh (AAB) – both in terms of strategizing, planning and implementation
  • Provide tax analyses and policy research to be used for advocacy and campaign activities
  • Provide strategic support in building capacity of AAB’s partners and network members on Tax Justice issue
  • Support the relationship building between policy stakeholders and support linking the national tax justice work with international networks and alliances

 Required qualifications:
  • Post graduate degree within relevant field (governance, development studies)
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate work experience with governance related  work – preferably tax- or economic justice.
  • Solid experience with research, campaign and advocacy work
  • Training and facilitation skills
  • Ability  to facilitate, initiate and guide processes without taking the lead
  • Ability to motivate
  • Culturally Sensitive
  • English proficiency
