Advisor on Collaborative Park Management in Lao PDR - Niras

Long term Consultant for German funded Project

Main tasks and Responsibilities

• Advise on roles and duties of stakeholders in village, district and provincial levels 
• Support and facilitate a network of coordination between villages, Government institutions and private sector
• Support awareness raising for target groups and involved stakeholders; introduce tools and methods
• Facilitate and update of the zoning of the conservation zones and common managed zones
• Support patrolling and design/support bio- and socio monitoring activities
• Initiate implementation of co-management and its plan
• Identify and document lessons learnt from project activities
• Advice local and national Governments on a country wide concept for collaborative park management in Lao PDR

General Qualifications and Experience

• A relevant university Master degree (biology, forestry, agriculture, or other NRM related study) Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience 
• Experience from donor (preferably German) support programs or projects
• Good inter-cultural and communication skills

Experience in the region and language

•  Fluent in English, Lao and German would be an asset
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience from Asia, preferably Lower Mekong Region

Timing

• Start: April 2013 for 7 months
• Possible prolongation for 3 years
