Senior Marketing Strategist / Team Leader
Duty station: The Hague, The Netherlands
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation with long-term, local presence in over 30 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our team of advisors works with local partners to equip communities and businesses with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services. SNV works across three sectors: Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Several international donors fund our programmes and we have successfully reached a +100 million euro annual turnover and is aiming for further growth.

THE ROLE
SNV seeks a proven Marketing Strategist and Team leader who would like to take on the challenge to develop SNV’s corporate marketing plan and donor strategies and lead the Global Marketing team (6 professionals) to position SNV in the global market place and contribute to a healthy corporate pipeline. This is a senior position within SNV’s Marketing and Business Development department, reporting directly to the Head of the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Market intelligence: systematically gather and analyse information on markets, funding streams, specific customers and competitors and their marketing strategies and revenue models;
  • Product innovation: initiate, coordinate and support product innovation, in close coopration with the sector teams and on the interfaces of the sectors and cross sectorial, in order to improve SNV’s competitive edge;
  • Development sector trends: develop and maintain relationships with parties and gather intelligence on new initiatives, trends and changes in the development sector to feed innovations and improvements in the corporate marketing plan and revenue model;
  • Marketing strategy development: develop the corporate marketing plan, including customer strategies for key players in the donor market;
  • Strategic positioning and profiling: profile SNV in marketing communications material and at key events and meetings, showcasing successes;
  • Branding: develop and maintain SNV’s corporate brand;
  • Marketing team coordinator: lead the Global Marketing team within the Marketing and Business Development department and ensure deliverables of the team are achieved.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-graduate qualification in a field related to international development, economics, marketing or business administration;
  • Advanced work experience and track record in business to business marketing, preferably combined with experience in business development and/or leading communications;
  • At least 5 years of work experience managing a team;
  • Advanced work experience in marketing strategy and customer strategy development at a global level;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of implicit and explicit customer and competitor strategies and funding modalities related to international development;
  • Demonstrated oral and written professional communication and public speaking skills (English required, French or Spanish preferred);
  • Networking skills, a solid international network of customers and partners, and ability to expand networks with relevant people and organizations;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the development sector and SNV’s position in it;
  • Willingness to travel internationally;
  • The successful candidate will be a self-motivated achiever with excellent entrepreneurial skills and a commercial drive with a strong focus on results.

CONTRACT INFORMATION
DUTY STATION:         The Hague, the Netherlands.
SALARY:         Dutch based contract and competitive package
CONTRACT PERIOD:    2 years contract, extendable
DESIRED START DATE:    As soon as possible
