PROGRAM BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps is deploying an emergency response team (ERT) to assess the country after the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak starting in May 2014. The ERT will assess the provision of direct clinical care. The ERT will expand the current activities including: health education, health awareness, surveillance and contact tracing support.JOB SUMMARY
This position will ensure the continued technical success of International Medical Corps’ current health care initiatives, and support the development of new, technically sound, and locally appropriate health programming. The selected candidate will provide technical support and expertise in the areas of technical design, program implementation and the ongoing improvement of International Medical Corps’ health care initiatives.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies as requested;• Support activities focused on reducing mortality of EVD.
• Other duties as assigned by the Emergency Team Director, Emergency Medical Coordinator or Emergency Medical Officer as outlined in the reporting section.
Qualifications:
• The qualified
candidate will possess a medical degree, experience as a Medical Director or
senior field technical staff in similar settings;
• 3-5+ years of field experience in humanitarian relief or development programs focused on primary health care and public health in insecure settings;
• Excellent program development skills;
• Ability to conduct and supervise new program assessments and write cogent proposals and budgets;
• Knowledge of donor practices, the program proposal process, and humanitarian or development program solicitations and applications;
• Capacity to manage a large team of expatriates and local staff;
• Excellent interpersonal and troubleshooting skills;
• Ability to adapt to different cultures, mentalities and circumstances.
