Basic purpose | The successful candidate shall conduct regular screening of advance backcross breeding populations to different abiotic and biotic stresses for the development of green super rice (GSR) varieties that are resource use efficient without compromising on higher grain yield and quality in the molecular breeding programs of PBGB. |
Roles and responsibilities | -
Handle screening of advance backcross populations to different abiotic
and biotic stresses and manage the survivors properly for further
confirmation - Conducts large-scale genotyping (SNP Markers) and phenotyping of introgression lines developed through advance backcross breeding populations for developing multiple abiotic and biotic stress tolerant materials - Evaluates GSR breeding lines generated under molecular breeding program (MBP) for tolerance to major biotic and abiotic stresses and in collaboration with pathology, entomology and other breeding teams in PBGB - Assists in the preparation of field layout and design of experiment - Sound knowledge on agricultural statistics and knowledge of R statistical software preferred - Coordinates with IRRI experimental station, for the effective implementation of field and greenhouse experiments - Participate in the preparation and writing of technical reports and scientific papers from data collected in the experiments - Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the immediate supervisor Qualification Requirements: - BS Agriculture major in Agronomy or Horticulture / BS Biology major in Genetics or related discipline - At least 3 - 5 years field and laboratory experience and database management - Excellent in oral and written communication skills |
