Role and Responsibilities
To support Medair Communications & Fundraising (CFR) department by providing and facilitating relevant and timely information for Medair’s communication and fundraising activities. Support the field team in dealing with communication towards external sources (e.g. press requests in the field). Monitor Medair’s visibility in the field.

Project Overview
In response to the Syrian Crisis, delivering emergency assistance to Syrian refugees and host communities in Jordan and Lebanon, and to Syrian IDPs when possible. Projects in the sectors of Health, Nutrition, WASH, Shelter and Cash assistance.

Key Activity Areas
Marketing Communication
In order to support Medair’s communications and fundraising strategy, plans and activities, travel frequently to accessible field projects to pro-actively and re-actively gather and pitch resources (testimonies, interviews, quotes, photos and video footage) and updates on programmes and projects.
  • Brief all staff during in-country briefings about their role in communicating about the organisation and its work privately, but also to support the public communication and fundraising activities of Medair.
  • Encourage, train and provide guidance to the field staff willing to contribute to the communication activities of Medair.
  • Provide news and content to HQ for editing and publication.
  • Pitch articles, reports, or news stories to CFR at Headquarters.
  • Coordinate regular updates of the photo database.
  • Assist the CFR department in preparing an overview of the country programme and beneficiary testimonies.
  • Build up comprehensive local media database.
Brand and co-branding Coordination

  • Advise Project Managers upon institutional donor marking visibility budgets and conditions according to Medair and institutional donor guidelines.
Brand Management (messaging, look (graphics), photography, visibility)
  • Promote, review, and ensure the correct use of Medair and donor logos and identities of donors in the field.
  • Monitor all communication/pictures made on the initiative of field staff.
Media Relations
  • Under the specific guidance of the CD/HQ Media Officer, liaise with local and international media in the field and beneficiaries.
  • Prepare, facilitate and accompany field visits of photographers, film crews and journalists mandated by CFR at Headquarters.
Internal Communications
  • Compile and publish regular newsletter in French for national and international staff.
  • Circulate news and information updates to all bases to keep staff informed about progress of the country programme.
Qualifications
  • Communications or related PR, or Media related qualification
Languages
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Working knowledge of French (spoken and written) desirable (for use in Lebanon)
  • Knowledge of Arabic (spoken) an asset (regional use)
Experience / Competencies
  • Two years professional experience in a similar position
  • Multimedia editing a desirable asset
  • Fluent French
  • Keen to share information internally and provide training, capable of communicating clearly
  • Representing and connecting abilities within the media-network
  • Self-Motivated; Initiator

  • Successful completion of Medair Relief & Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)

  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
