Background / General description:

The Global Trade and Supply Chain department was created in 2010 to build on the success of IFC’s flagship trade program, GTFP. The department manages all of IFC’s trade finance related products and programs and develops new products for the benefit of all IFC clients, with particular focus on businesses serving the manufacturing and agribusiness sectors.

The Global Trade and Supply Chain department has 3 vacancies in its Business Development division for 3 Trade Finance Analysts to support the regional teams mainly with the work program related to the Global Trade Finance Program (GTFP) which was approved originally by the Board in October 2004 for a total of $500 million and has subsequently been increased 3 times bringing the current ceiling of the Program to a total of $5 Billion. To date 260 Issuing Banks and 235 Confirming Banks have been signed into the program. The teams are now processing over 30 transactions per day and this volume is expected to continue to increase. In addition, the regional business development teams also have responsibility for business origination for other trade products such as warehouse finance ,structured trade finance, supply chain, distributor finance and risk sharing facilities.

Duties and Accountabilities:
The positions will report to the Regional Head, Business Development, Global Trade and Supply Chain and will be based regionally (Istanbul/Karachi/Islamabad, Johannesburg and Mumbai).

In general, the Trade Finance Analyst will ensure accurate and timely processing of GTFP transactions, amendments and cancellations under the Program as well as bank limits monitoring.

In particular, the position responsibilities will include but not exhaust the following:

- Accurate processing of trade transactions, amendments and cancellations of GTFP transactions in close cooperation with the operational team in Istanbul

- Filing of all processed transactions and its respective documentation as well as maintaining a quality filing system for any operational issues.

- Prepare internal memos for Issuing Banks' line increases and cancellation under the supervision of the Regional Head of Trade.

- Closely interact with regional Financial Markets colleagues to ensure trade lines are suspended in case of non-compliance of financial covenants

- Frequent communication with the business contacts of our client banks via e-mail or phone regarding business and processing issues.

- Track program activity through the implementation of appropriate systems and prepare activity reports for management, as needed.

- Participate in Trade Appraisal for new Issuing Banks as needed.

- Performing other duties as requested.

Selection Criteria:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

- 2-3 years of experience, experience with a commercial bank or an international/multinational organization

- Knowledge of IFC/IBRD systems, procedures, and documents a strong plus.

- Strong administrative and organizational skills are required.

- Ability to work in a team environment with good interpersonal and communications skills. -

- Detailed oriented and accurate personality

- High degree of motivation, flexibility, and reliability.

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds

- Ability to interact directly and independently with management of potential clients, financial and technical partners as well as government officials

- Ability to multi-task and deliver quality work under time pressure

- Fluency in English is a must. Other languages are a plus
