Technical Specialist – Jordan
The Health Policy Project (HPP), implemented by Futures Group International and its partners and funded by USAID, is a five-year project which has a primary emphasis on supporting national-level awareness raising, resource mobilization, and policy reform to improve quality and expand access to Family Planning/Reproductive Health (FP/RH) services in Jordan.
HPP is seeking to hire a full time Jordanian Technical Specialist who will work under the supervision of the Country Director to:
  • Conceptualize and provide leadership for design of technical activities in the field of reproductive health (RH), family planning (FP), and population issues.
  • Provide technical assistance in policy formulation, analysis, and implementation on RH/FP issues.
  • Develop evidence-based briefing papers, research summaries, and other documents in support of policy initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance, capacity-building and knowledge transfer to partner agencies.
  • Collect, synthesize, and analyze data using established methodologies and study protocols.
  • Use computer models to analyze health and family planning data.
  • Provide guidance for the development of effective strategic approaches and methodologies and ensure integration with the work of other USAID-funded projects.
  • Interact with the USAID Mission, other donors, other USAID-funded agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Country Director of HPP Jordan.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in public health or social sciences. Training and/or experience in health and family planning is highly desirable.
  • At least ten years’ experience working in health and/or socio-economic development programs. Experience in policy reform initiatives and advocacy is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with USAID projects is preferred.
  • Prior experience in policy advocacy and capacity development.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with various audiences.
  • Applicants must be highly proficient in written and spoken English as well as Arabic.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS outlook, PowerPoint, Internet).
  • Excellent communications skills and time management.
  • Effective planning and organization skills.
