Job Purpose:

To undertake a range of clearly defined and circumscribed duties related to SWIFT operations.

Expected Outcomes

SWIFT Operations
Assists in the coordination and control of the use of ADB's SWIFT system by the authorized users in various divisions for the handling of funds transfers, settlement of investments, purchases of foreign exchange, debt service payments, loan disbursements, payments of administrative expenses, etc.
User Training
Provides support to different SWIFT users and assists new users in using the SWIFT systems.
Key Arrangement
Assists in the establishment and management of SWIFT Relationship Management Application (RMA) and telex authenticator key arrangements with depository correspondent banks worldwide.
Periodic Reports
Prepares standard daily summary of incoming and outgoing messages for reconciliation purposes. Prepares standard monthly statistical reports on volume of SWIFT communications.
Messages
Reviews and checks all SWIFT messages before they are dispatched to ensure compliance with SWIFT message standards.
Monitors messages pertaining to failed RMA and incorrect telex test numbers.
Ensures that incoming messages are correctly identified and promptly distributed to users concerned.
Routing
Ensures that messages retrieved from the system are routed to correct address with reference to detailed instructions or guidelines.
Security
Under detailed instructions or guidelines, conducts constant checking and monitoring of the system to ensure that all security measures are implemented.
Others
Performs any other duties as required.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, banking, finance, business administration, computer science/information technology, or other related disciplines

Relevant Experience And Other Requirements:

Work experience
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
Technical knowledge
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SWIFT System: general overview (network, its objectives, structure, members, products and services; messages (types, formats, standards, validation and error codes); security aspect (access to the system, use of passwords, message authentication).
  • Familiar with in-house treasury facilities: depository banks, different bank accounts and various financial correspondents; treasury and ADB-wide mainframe systems and computer software applications.
  • Considerable Treasury related experience and a comprehensive knowledge of relevant Treasury procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Understanding of the interactions between Treasury and other ADB work areas.
  • Solid numerical ability.
  • Proficiency in use of computer data bases to input and extract information and to generate standard and ad hoc reports.
