Basic purpose
The successful candidate will be under under the supervision
of the Associate Manager perform routine work and operations at greenhouse,
screenhouse and headhouse facilities. When required support is provided to
other Technicians to ensure quality assurance and efficient use of resources in
ES-bioenvironment units.
Roles and
responsibilities
- Repair and replacement of broken glass and polycarbonate
roofs of greenhouse and walls of screenhouses
- Rustproofing, repainting and repair of greenhouse and
screenhouse steel support structures
- Maintenance and repair of greenhouse/screenhouse/headhouse
facilities, soil grinders, exhaust fans, faucets and irrigation fixtures, plan
trays and benches
- Grinding and delivering of garden soil to researchers at
greenhouse/screenhouse and field nurseries
- Conduct regular and routine monitoring of insect and pest
occurrence at greenhouses and screenhouses
- Alert and report findings on pest monitoring to
researchers and ES Crop Management Unit for appropriate control measures
- Inspect, test and evaluate equipment
- Assemble, test and operate newly acquired equipment/tools
for further evaluation
- Coordinate and recommend requisition of parts and supplies
- Perform proper safety operation procedures, housekeeping
practices and maintenance of equipment before, during and after work periods
regarding quality, reliability, safety and efficiency standards
- Maintain work area/work place as scheduled to ensure
cleanliness and safety
- Conduct of necessary shutdown activities such as power
washing of floors and walls and institute good housekeeping and functionality
of the greenhouse
- When required and respond to routine and emergency call in
line with technical expertise and service as back up as required
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor
from time to time

- High school degree with minimum 2 years of relevant
experience
- Has good oral communication skills
