Program
Futures Group is seeking a Chief of Party
for an anticipated USAID-funded contract in Afghanistan. This five-year
program will seek to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and
international program implementers to foster economic growth for farmers
and agribusinesses in selected regions of the country.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall program management and leadership
- Overseeing program start-up under limited time constraints as well as program close-out.
- Ensure adequate communications with USAID and headquarters office
- Hire and supervise host country local personnel and ensure that they secure necessary training required to meet program needs.
- Manage all project planning responsibilities, including oversight of the production of required work plans, budgets, and regular reports.
- Ensure compliance with home office and client requirements, policies and regulations
- Interact regularly with senior host-government counterparts on policy and other strategic planning issues.
- Act as liaison to other relevant donors, local government, and local organizations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in agricultural economics, agricultural policy, public sector management, agricultural production, agricultural science, water resources management, international development, business management or a related field
- 10 years of experience managing agricultural donor-funded programs
- Previous experience supervising 40+ local and expat staff
- Experience working with USAID-funded programs
- Prior experience in designing and implementing agriculture policies and strategies in Afghanistan, the region, or a conflict or post conflict country
- Fluent in the English. Professional proficiency in Dari or Pashto is desirable.
- Capacity to effectively deal with and resolve conflicts.
- Demonstrated ethical management approach.
