Description
Global Communities, formerly CHF International, is an international non-profit organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable.Global Communities is seeking a Communications and Outreach Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded rapid response community engagement program in Jordan. The program will work with local partners to strengthen community engagement in the context of regional volatility and transitions association with domestic policy reform, economic conditions and demographic changes. The program will focus on three primary components: 1. Expand NGO, community organization, professional association and government efforts to build resilience and address cohesion-related challenges; 2. Increase civil society-government-private sector cooperation in building resilience and addressing cohesion-related challenges; and 3. Strengthen skills and build other capacity relevant to community and national cohesion.
The Communications and Outreach Specialist will work closely with local partners and target communities to facilitate constructive dialogue on sensitive issues and disseminate information on program activities and successes in order to promote cohesion and resilience at the grassroots level. This position is contingent upon funding.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience conducting communications and outreach for development programs
- Demonstrated ability to address sensitive issues in a diplomatic and tactful manner
- Proven ability to conduct outreach to women, youth, and other marginalized populations Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (Master’s degree preferred)
- Knowledge of community media and new media technology
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English required
