Client Description:
The Advancement of Community Empowerment and Partnership (ACEP) centre operates under the direct administration of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA). ACEP works in the areas of community development and poverty reduction. It aims to work with communities to advance their capacity as well as expand cooperation with others to achieve poverty alleviation and sustainable development. ACEP maintains its head office in Hanoi and two representative offices in Nghe An and Quang Tri with total 19 staff.

ACEP has two established initiatives, Indigenous and Oriberry. Indigenous provides new market opportunities for small producers in Vietnam, showcasing the crafts and cultures of Vietnam's ethnic minority and indigenous artisans. Oriberry utilizes farmer co-operatives from various regions throughout Vietnam to provide opportunities for local, indigenous, and ethnic farmers in remote rural areas of Vietnam with fairly produced Coffee and Tea. ACEP has two Café’s in Hanoi giving opportunities to both Indigenous and Oriberry to enter new local markets.

Assignment Summary:
ACEP is looking for an expert volunteer with experience in senior management role to assist with market analysis, on the basis of which, design a strategic business plan and framework for the development of ACEP’s Oriberry Coffee & Tea and Indigenous Handicrafts initiatives. S/he will provide assistance and training in implementing the plan and also suggest improvements on future direction and initiatives of ACEP, including researching international export opportunities for these products.

Assignment Outcomes:
  • Analysis of current market conditions and opportunities completed;
  • Business plan and tools for its implementation developed;
  • Staff are trained on developing, implimenting, and managing of business plan for the organisation;
  • International promotion and business development opportunities identified and recommendations made;
Experience:
The client has requested a volunteer with the following skills and experience:
  • Degree in Business Management, International Business, Marketing or related field;
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a business management role;
  • Previous experience in designing, developing and implementing strategic business plans;
  • Experience in delivering business growth; ability to research new International markets and adapt business strategy accordingly;
  • Familiarity with rural development concepts (desirable);
  • International exposure and experience (desirable);
  • Knowledge of the International Coffee Industry (desirable).
