| Basic purpose | The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills and extensive experience in developing long term strategies to support IRRI in refining our Strategic Vision for the next 20 years (from 2015 to 2025). The final output will be a Strategic Vision document which lays out 3-4 major development pathways for IRRI based on an analysis of key structural drivers of change, trends in rice demand and supplies, as well as the latest innovations in science technologies and services. |
| Roles and responsibilities | • Analyze trends at the global level in the field of the private sector that can affect the work of IRRI in the coming decades; • Analyze trends at the global level in the field of rice science issues and directions; • Define potential scenarios based on the analyses; • Facilitate meetings and workshops to further develop scenarios; • Support the drafting and finalization of the strategic vision document; • Be available early in 2013 for a 60 day assignment between January and April 2013. The assignment may be home based for some of this time, but will require traveling to IRRI Headquarters in Los Banos, the Philippines. Qualification Requirements: • Significant experience working with International Institutions on similar projects; • Extensive experience developing long term strategies, preferable in the field of agricultural science; • Extensive experience in and knowledge of the development sector and analyzing global development trends; • Excellent analytical skills, with strong written and oral communication, and the interpersonal organizational skills to successfully deliver the required output; • Understanding of the CGIAR system, and knowledge of IRRI in particular, is an asset To apply for this position, please click here |
