OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the programme is to deliver WHO core functions at country level and the specific activities include:

Effective implementation of WHO's collaborative programmes in Bhutan;
Harmonization and alignment of WHO support with national processes and systems;
Effective mobilization and utilization of resources within the framework of the regional programme budget;
Close cooperation and coordination between WHO and the Royal Government of Bhutan, UN agencies and other external partners;
Provide policy and technical guidance, support and collaborate with the MOH for further development and implementation of national policies and strategies which ensure equitable and universal access to quality health care
Description of duties:
Under the supervision of the WR and in consultation with the technical units at WHO/SEARO, the incumbent will:

Collaborate with the MOH for the development of national policies, strategies and plans relating to Environment, Climate Change (GEF) Water and Sanitation (WASH),
Occupational Health and Chemical Safety (SAICM) and other health related areas;
Plan, implement, monitor and report on WHO Collaborative programme for environment and climate change, Water, Sanitation, Chemical Safety and other related areas;
Advice implementing agencies on any project related issues; provide guidance on technical aspects of the project and on mechanisms to strengthen health systems responses in these areas;
Undertake any other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential: Bachelors degree in Health sciences, Health administration or a related field from a University recognized by the Royal Civil Service Commission.
Desirable: Masters degree in any health related field would be an added advantage
Skills:
Functional Knowledge & Skills:
Broad knowledge and analytical skills in aspects of international and national health policy and development; Sound understanding of effective management practices, programme planning and evaluation; Computer literacy, particularly related to office applications as an effective tool for management; Strong public health and strategic thinking skills; strong professional oral and writing skills, for the development of reports, oral presentations, and technical documents for consideration at the highest levels of the Organization.

Experience:
Essential: Two years of experience in health development work at national level.
Desirable: Experience with WHO internal processes, policies and procedures an advantage.
Languages:
Expert knowledge of written and spoken English.
Additional Information:
THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO LOCAL RECRUITMENT AND WILL BE FILLED BY A BHUTAN NATIONAL FROM WITHIN BHUTAN.
Annual salary: (Net of tax)
Ngultrum 498306 per annum at single rate
