WorldFish is an exciting, dynamic research institute focused on reducing poverty and increasing food and nutrition security through fisheries and aquaculture. Worldfish is currently leading the implementation of CGIAR Research Program onAquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) which aims to improve the livelihoods of those people left behind by the Green Revolution. Through an innovative, community-centered, participatory action research approach the AAS Program aspires to think differently about how agricultural research is undertaken and to be open about sharing the knowledge and learnings it gains.

The AAS Program is building its community-based research capacity and is looking for a dynamic, energetic team player for the following role:

(Gross Salary: USD 30,000-35,000 per annum)

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation of the CGIAR Research Program (CRP) Aquatic Agricultural Systems (AAS) in Cambodia,
  • Responsible for the planning, coordination, and communication of the AAS Program activities in Cambodia
  • Provide administrative support to the CRP Country Manager, including preparation and monitoring of contracts, partner agreements, and budgets
  • Collate and analyze research data and provide substantive research inputs into the AAS program in collaboration with national and regional partners, and investors
  • Provide contributions to concept notes and proposals (with specific emphasis on CRP AAS funding) in collaboration with scientists, external partners, and consultants
  • Contribute to publishing results of research in scientific journals, policy magazines and popular media, with guidance from senior research colleagues

Key Selection Criteria
  • Master degree level qualifications in the social or natural sciences. PhD is favorable
  • Published work in journals, policy magazines and popular media
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate projects, in particular research teams and work with local partners and rural communities
  • Proven analytical ability to produce science solutions for addressing development challenges within aquatic agricultural systems
  • Experience in organizing research communications and dissemination, report writing, and presentations
  • Excellent communication skills required with strong command of accurate writing in English

Desired Qualifications and Experiences
  • Strong initiative, good creative strategic thinking and planning
  • Good research skills with publications in an area relevant to regional priorities in fisheries, natural resources management, aquaculture or social science
  • Successful project development and fundraising experience
  • Experience coordinating multiple team members successfully
  • 5-10 years project management and project budget management support experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Mekong region
