Duties
This is an exciting and high profile opportunity to lead the Australian Government’s engagement on health in East Timor. To support East Timor meet its health challenges and to achieve its complex health sector reforms, the successful candidate will be a senior development professional with extensive experience and knowledge of the health sector in low and middle income countries. They will also have significant experience as a team leader, ideally within bilateral, multilateral and/or international non-governmental organisation operations. As a member of the AusAID East Timor senior management team, the appointed Senior Specialist will be responsible for growing and delivering the health and nutrition portfolio in East Timor. Current programs include health systems strengthening, maternal, neonatal and child health, nutrition, family planning, and secondary (surgical) care. The selected candidate will play a pivotal and strategic role in leading and managing the AusAID East Timor health team to deliver an expanded, effective and results focused program. The Senior Specialist will lead the representation of Australia in high level policy dialogue with the Government of East Timor, other development partners, civil society and academia.
 
Eligibility / Other Requirements
This position will be an overseas-based AusAID employee on a three year non-ongoing contract with the possibility of a one year extension
