Summary:
In addition to supporting the COP, acting for the COP as needed and described above, and any other tasks assigned by the COP to ensure proper management of the Contract, the Deputy Chief of Party must be able to travel to Somalia, security permitting.


Essential Job Functions:
  • Supervise senior project technical and administrative staff, including staff responsible for diverse technical activities such as good governance, community growth, countering violent-extremism, management, and gender;
  • Oversee the implementation of all project activities and ensure the client’s desired results are achieved.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of administrative and operational procedures; strengthen finance, operations, and grant/subcontracts management systems;
  • Ensure implementation supports the overall U.S. Government strategy increasing Somalia’s stability;
  • Ensure linkages between the program and other USAID and donor-funded programs, particularly other TIS programs
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with a contractor or international NGO managing an office or activity;
  • Advanced degree in peace-building and conflict management, social sciences, international development, political science, law, or other related field;
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience managing and implementing peace-building and conflict management projects with experience in the Horn of Africa preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage staff working in multiple locations affected by conflict;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with communities, civil society, local government representatives and other stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Regional Travel Requirements:
