Suitable for individuals with experience in: 
  • Bachelor degree in communications, media, journalism or PR.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience to demonstrate breadth of knowledge, wisdom and organizational politics.
  • International development knowledge, experience or learning strongly preferred.
  • A Christian commitment and its expression are required.
  • Overseas experience and evidence of cultural sensitivity strongly preferred.
  • Advanced news writing for journalism and online.
  • Proven ability to capture compelling photographs (essential) and video 
  • (preferable).
  • Proven emergency communications/coordination preferred.
  • Evidence of strong understanding of social and online media, with a strong 
  • social media Clout score favoured.
  • Proven experience of team management and coordination.
  • Proven project management, coordination and administration skills.
Preferred: 
  • Evidence of community of practice coordination.
  • Understanding of the humanitarian industry.
  • Understanding of risk management.
  • Droopla and Sharepoint content management systems.
  • GANTT chart mapping.
  • Work experience in developing country.
  • Website administration.
  • Work Environment (travel & work): The position requires ability and willingness 
  • to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.

World Vision has an ambitious strategy to deliver world-class emergency communications for rapid onset, cyclical and conflict-based emergencies. Under the guidance of the Emergency Communications Directors, the Emergency Communications Support Officer will engage with the agency’s global network of communicators to help deliver that strategy. The position will also help manage, coordinate and administer emergency communications projects, campaigns and events, support and deliver communications training, keep World Vision informed and engaged with inspiring content and messaging, and deploy when necessary to emergencies to manage communications and media and deliver content.
