Trainer, Scientific Writing for the Center for Communicable Diseases


icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Trainer, Scientific Writing for the Center for Communicable Diseases.  icddr,b is an international health research organisation dedicated to solving global public health problems.


At icddr,b’s Centre for Communicable Diseases, we mentor and train researchers to enable them to contribute meaningfully to global knowledge of communicable diseases. This position will guide members of the Scientific Writing Unit and the Statistical Unit to provide quality training and mentoring to all members of the six research groups, focused primarily on 60 scientific track staff, and to the members of the Centre Support Unit Team as required with the objective of developing independent scientists for the Centre who can design and implement research projects of the Centre within the guidelines of the organization.

Salary range: Approximately US$ 36,000.00 per annum (consolidated) based on experience.
Contract type: The appointment will be a short-term contract period of 11 months but renewable upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

REQUIREMENTS
Education and Relevant Experience:
  • Bachelor’s in any discipline from a university/college in a country where English is the primary spoken language; a further degree in education, public health (MPH), biostatistics, epidemiology, or social sciences desired.
  • At least 8 years of public health experience including 2 years in teaching/training.
Functional Competencies:
  • Knowledge of  scientific writing;
  • Knowledge of research methodology;
  • Knowledge of statistical analyses;
  • Knowledge of training materials development;
  • Knowledge of training facilitation;
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications.
Behavioral Competencies:
  • A very good level of skills on Strategic Outlook, Collegiality, Foster Partnerships, Communicate Effectively, Execute for Results, Innovative Thinking, Nurture Talent, Continuous Learning;
