Overview

“Climate change adaptation and mitigation” is one of five research themes at CIFOR. The Global Comparative Study on REDD+ (GCS-REDD) is CIFOR’s flagship project on climate change mitigation. Phase 1 of GCS-REDD (2009–2013) is drawing to a close and phase 2 (2013–2015) is getting underway. Module 2, focused on subnational REDD+ activities, is one of five research activities conducted as part of GCS-REDD. Module 2 comes under Forests and Livelihoods Research, which is one of three research programs at CIFOR.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Project administration and research support:
    • Design research-monitoring templates in Excel and MS Word
    • Conduct monitoring of project progress and provide progress updates
    • Develop and renew consultant contracts in collaboration with Human Resources
    • Maintain filing and storage of research data and Memoranda of Cooperation
    • Conduct literature searches
    • Do formatting of research papers and presentations.
  2. Secretarial:
    • Organize conferences and meetings
    • Assist in making travel arrangements
    • Assist in arranging logistics for fieldwork
    • Send documents by post and fax
    • Disseminate publications
    • Issue task reminders
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Technical Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in project administration and/or secretarial work
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong computer skills in word processing, database management and other relevant office applications.
Personal Attributes and Competencies
  • Competent in personal organization and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under time pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Capable of working independently and an effective team player
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Proactive, target-driven and diligent.

Terms and conditions

  • This is a nationally recruited position. CIFOR offers a competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The appointment will be for two and a half years, including a standard six-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of this position and available resources.
  • The duty station will be in Bogor, Indonesia
