Information & Communication Team

Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager of ISG, the Knowledge Sharing Officer will develop, facilitate, coordinate and implement knowledge sharing strategies at the international, regional and national levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop CIFOR's knowledge-sharing strategy to maximise the policy and development impact of its research and support the evidence-based forestry process.
  2. Coordinate the promotion of knowledge sharing throughout the organisation and serve as the Chief Knowledge Sharing Officer for the CGIAR Consortium Research Program on Forest, Trees and Agroforestry (CRP), strengthening links between knowledge sharing and research, and improving integration among information across systems, among and between scientists.
  3. Build and strengthen forestry networks in knowledge sharing at international, regional and national levels, among partners and stakeholder organisations and universities.
  4. Contribute to thought-leadership processes and programmes that integrate the messaging and positioning of CIFOR's and the CRP's knowledge and research publications to consistently cultivate the organisation's intellectual capital and global expertise footprint.
  5. Develop collaborative tools for social media communities to facilitate sharing of ideas and work among researchers of both CIFOR and CRP, external partners and the public.
  6. Share experiences across communities of practice, business units, and networks on innovative approaches in knowledge sharing, including preparation of case studies and reports, and contribute to concept notes and grant proposals.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the knowledge sharing processes, including external benchmarking and evaluation programmes/opportunities. Establish a "best practices" model for the development of internal measures and metrics.
  8. Disseminate information about the organisation's knowledge sharing programme to internal and external audiences, including organising knowledge sharing events (such as fairs), maintaining communications on knowledge sharing across the organisation, promoting the organisation as a uniquely positioned think tank.
  9. Develop and implement knowledge sharing strategies related to conferences and workshops, including the introduction of innovative methodologies to meet conference objectives and monitor the delivery.
  10. Provide leadership in capacity development in knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Education, experience and technical skills
  • Master's degree in Information Management, Library Science and/or related disciplines. A PhD in Information or Knowledge Management, is an advantage.
  • At least seven (7) years of professional work experience in information management and knowledge sharing in forestry, preferably internationally. Have a strong understanding of how knowledge sharing works.
  • Experience in working for a research facility or within the development sector, is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English is essential and preferably a fluency in one or more other languages.

Terms and conditions

  • This is an internationally recruited position based in Bogor, Indonesia.
  • CIFOR offers competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The appointment is for two (2) years, with a possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
