Hagar Social Enterprise Group (HSEG) is a wholly-owned, for-profit subsidiary of Hagar International. HSEG holds Hagar’s social enterprise investments, which provide sustainable training, employment opportunities and an empowering workplace environment for survivors of extreme human rights abuses.
The Social Enterprise Officer will lead the strategic expansion of HSEG’s social enterprise activities in Afghanistan, including supporting the development of a solar oven business (Starlight Afghan Free Energy Co.) and securing additional social enterprise investments.


The right candidate for Social Enterprise Officer will be:

• Entrepreneurial with a strong business development acumen and commercial experience
• Relentless with a passion for seeing ideas come to life
• Passionate and committed to social justice
• Creative and flexible; able to work in the “grey” area between the private sector and international development sector
• Patient and cross-culturally competent in the Afghan context (2+ years living and working in Afghanistan)
• Able to coach, inspire, and lead a team
