Basic purpose
Reporting to the head of the Geographic Information Systems
lab, the researcher will assist the lab head and other senior lab staff in the
compilation, management and analysis of spatial data for various projects.
Roles and
responsibilities
1. Assist lab head and senior lab staff (NRS 6/7, PDF, CRS,
IRS) with GIS related tasks
2. Maintain spatial databases within the GIS lab
3. Perform desk research and occasional field work to
collect primary and secondary data
4. Collect and manage data from NARES and other partners
5. Respond to map requests from time to time
6. Prepare technical reports to the lab head
7. Contribute to international conferences and workshop, and
publications of research results in international-refereed scientific journals
and scientific forums.
8. Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned by
IRS and Division Head from time to time
Qualification
Requirements
Bachelors degree
3+ years experience working in a GIS lab or similar
environment
Good knowledge of data data management
Experience in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and
spatial data handling is highly desirable
Some experience in rice related research desirable
