Lead Governance Specialist - AusAID

Duties
The Lead Governance Specialist will provide strategic governance leadership on all governance issues confronting the Philippines program with specific focus on political economy analysis, institutional reform, decentralisation issues and governance in conflict and post conflict situations. As a Lead Governance Specialist, you will play a central role in governance policy development across all sector programs and will oversee or lead governance program design, monitoring, evaluations and quality assurance processes. At Post, you will represent AusAID with partner governments, other international partners and multilateral organisations. The position is full-time for an initial period of two (2) years with an option to extend the appointment for another twelve (12) months. The successful candidate is expected to commence as soon as possible. A competitive remuneration package, including attractive conditions for employment, will be negotiated commensurate with the demonstrated experience, expertise and skills of the successful applicant. The annual salary is approximately AUD$145,000. The Position will be located in the AusAID office in Manila but will be expected to spend some time, often at short notice, in Australia and/or provincial centres where Program support is to be provided.

Eligibility / Other Requirements
This position requires postgraduate qualification in relevant field such as development studies, international development, public administration, political science, international relations or economics. Interested applicants must have strong applied knowledge of governance with specific expertise in political economy analysis, institutional reform and decentralisation issues. Substantial experience in international development working on governance programs, ideally in the Philippines or other middle income countries, is required for the position.
