This is a mid-management position, with full responsibility to perform complex professional level tasks in cooperation with the Head of Finance:

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting

• Manage the accounting function of WorldFish head quarter and ensure that all WorldFish regional offices and project offices produce accurate, consistent and timely financial information for the institutional accounting database.
• Ensure a proper classification, consolidation and summarization of financial information as per the CGIAR, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAPs) and WorldFish financial guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Ensure the required structure; procedures and clear assignment of responsibilities are in place to meet agreed classification, consolidation and summarization of financial information and overall integrity of the financial data at all levels including the head quarter, project accounting, regional and country office accounting.
• Lead a team of qualified accountants and ensure that the financial accounting of all restricted and unrestricted grants and income as per the terms and conditions of grant / award.
• Manage the annual statutory audit and internal audits and ensure that the proper follow up actions for compliance are taken in timely manner.
• Managing the fixed assets accounting of the center and establishing a proper internal control.
• Oversee management of the Accounts Receivable and Payable and work closely with the Senior Accountant - Treasury for proper cash flow and cash management.
• Taking a lead role within the Finance Department for management of the core IT systems, notably SAP and future systems.
• Cross train and develop staff for overall financial capacity at all levels.

Process improvements and Internal Controls

• Continuously review financial processes to streamline functions and increase staff productivity.
• Build strong accounting systems knowledge within the team.
• Lead projects that impact on the general accounting and internal controls.

Financial statement, annual returns and others related

• Assist the Head of Finance in preparing the annual financial statement of the WorldFish.
• Prepare, review and file the annual returns and financial information such as Form - 990 with the regulators.
• Assist in the management of tax related issues and liaise with the tax authorities for refunds.

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Auditing and preferably MSc in Finance & Accounting or equivalent and with membership of an internationally recognized Professional Accounting body e.g. CA/CPA/MIA/MICPA/ ACCA/CMA, etc.
• At least 5 years work experience in financial and management accounting in a large multi-national firm or international organizations/NGO with a minimum of 3 years at the middle management level, supervising staff is required.
• Required skills: Good experience of a financial ERP system, e.g. Agresso, SAP, SUN, Oracle or any other similar system.
• Required language: English.
• Excellent communications skills, particularly in regard to presenting the results of analysis to management.
• Demonstrate a record of inter-disciplinary, partnership building and the desire to work in a collaborative environment.
