Basic purpose The successful candidate for this position will be the Manager of the GriSP Global Rice Phenotyping Network, reporting to the Network Coordinator, a senior scientist based at IRRI in Los Banos, Laguna. The network is composed of national and international partner laboratories on four continents. Embedded in a team of crop physiologists and information technologists, and in collaboration with breeders and geneticists, the Network Manager will ensure communication, quality control, data pooling and curation, IPR, timely reporting and documentation.
Roles and responsibilities ● Lead the design and network – wide implementation of standard experimental protocols; the development and curation of a database using controlled vocabulary and ontologies, with the support of a small team of specialists; the integration of phenomics in IRRI's data pipeline for gene discovery and utilization; the implementation of workshops and training.
● Manage the day–to–day network activities including communication with about 12 partner laboratories worldwide, ensuring quality control, as well as timely documentation and reporting. This may involve international travel within and beyond Asia.
● Track the Network's publication activity and ensure that IPR agreements are respected; contribute as author to the scientific production of the network
● Develop and maintain a Network website and other communication and information tools as appropriate


Qualification requirements:
● MS in Crop Physiology, Agronomy, Breeding or related discipline. PhD. is an advantage
● Minimum 10 years experience in crop research, including proven track record of conducting independent research and working with research teams in different countries and / or institutions. Well – established reputation for excellence in science and contributions to scientific publications
● Excellent project management skills and proficiency in written and oral communication in English language; in depth knowledge of data management, analysis and modelling methods; demonstrated experience in supervising small research groups and mentoring other staff; high adaptability and problem – solving capacity
