Technical Support Officer - WorldFish - Yangon, Myanmar

Working as part of the project team, the incumbent will be expected to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of an applied research and development initiative in Myanmar, in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and other national partners.
 
Key responsibilities
  • Provide in-country coordination and support for WorldFish projects in Myanmar and contribute to the establishment of WorldFish representation in the country
  • Provide substantial technical and logistical guidance to field-based research activities undertaken by DoF and other national partners including NGOs and universities
  • Provide senior administrative support to project managers, including preparation and monitoring of partner agreements, work plans, and budgets
  • Supervise the work of administrative staff in Myanmar
  • Serve as the focal point for communications about WorldFish’s work in Myanmar, liaising with WorldFish staff as well as local partners, government agencies and other institutions
 
Qualifications and experience
  • At least MA or MSc level qualifications in fisheries, natural resources management, social science, rural development or related field
  • At least 3 years of post-graduate professional experience in research and/or rural development
  • Field experience working with NGO or donor-funded projects on natural resources management, rural development, or environmental conservation
  • 2-3 years work experience in Myanmar would be desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and team coordination, including budget planning and financial reporting
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of partners in civil society, government and community
  • Knowledge of PRA techniques and livelihoods approaches in support of natural resources management or community development projects
  • Demonstrated experience in the collection and analysis of social and natural research data
  • Excellent communication skills required with strong command of writing in English
  • Proficiency in Myanmar language would be an advantage
