Basic purpose The successful candidate will be responsible to the IRRI Objective 1 coordinator. She/He will conduct and coordinate farmer participatory research and the on-farm dissemination of the CSISA technical program in several districts of the Cauvery Delta in Tamil Nadu.
Roles and responsibilities - Conduct and coordinate farmer participatory on-farm trials on crop and resource management in rice-based cropping systems
- Implement and facilitate and the on-farm dissemination of the CSISA technical program
- Train extension staff and service providers in the use of CSISA technologies
- Collect, manage, analyze and report data from on-farm participatory trials
- Carry out practical demonstrations, field days and farmers' training on technologies
- Interact and organize meetings with various stakeholders to discuss, streamline and implement the technology transfer program
- Support the involved scientists in on-farm studies for assessing new technologies
- Assist the other CSISA extension agronomist of the hub in other hub-based activities (if required)
- Report to the IRRI Objective 1 coordinator


Qualification Requirements:


- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Soil Science, Agronomy, Crop Science or related fields
- Experience in participatory on-farm research with special emphasis on crop, soil and location-specific nutrient management options in cereal-based cropping systems of South Asia
- Excellent in oral and written English and Tamil
